WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrade r at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with several new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific level upgrades for items. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
